I studied Natural Resources Engineering in Mexico, where I am originally from, and later completed a Master’s degree in Philosophy at Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon. Prior to entering the seminary, I worked as a Spanish and Religion middle school teacher in Brighton, Massachusetts.

I was raised by my grandparents in Mexico. They were very loving and devout Catholics and taught me to love God and they provided a good example of the importance of serving others. During my college years, I was academically successful, but a persistent question always lingered—especially whenever I achieved a major goal or dream: "And then what? What is next?"  There was something missing. Even though my journey has taken several different routes, and most recently being happy working as a teacher, I still had the sense that there was still something missing. With the guidance of amazing people, I have been able to hear clearly the answer to my seeking: "Come and follow me."  For this reason, I am filled with joy and gratitude to begin this new chapter at Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary which has been a welcoming place since the first time I visited.
