Before hearing God’s call and applying for the seminary, Nic spent most of the past 25 years as an educator, primarily at the high school and collegiate level in Kansas and Missouri. He has a BA in Comparative Literature and an MA in American Studies both from the University of Kansas. He wrote and defended a 200-page memoir for the MFA Program in Creative Writing at UMKC.
In addition to teaching, Nic spent 15 years as a columnist for the Topeka Capital-Journal and Gannett Kansas. Nic was born and raised in Topeka, Kansas. He is the father of three children: Nicolas (32), Joshua (31), and Isabella (Bella), 18.
After listening to every episode of the Seminary’s “It’s Never Too Late” podcast, he is excited to attend Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary. With its focus on later vocations and its exceptional success with priestly vocations, he feels it is an excellent fit.
