Oath of Fidelity to Prepare Transitional Deacons

Transitional Deacons Oath April 2025

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary community witnessed six men from Third Theology profess their faith and take an oath of fidelity in preparation for their ordinations as Transitional Deacons this Spring and Summer. The ceremony took place in Alumni Chapel following Evening Prayer. It is customary for all those ordained to the diaconate, priesthood and episcopacy to take the oath before each ordination.

The solemn Oath of Fidelity and Profession of Faith is an important and necessary step. By signing these oaths before God, the Seminary rector, and the Seminary community, these men have made a public declaration of their faith and believe all that the Catholic Church teaches. They promise to be faithful to that teaching in their ministry as deacons.

Please pray for these men as they continue their preparations for the diaconate. Congratulations Christopher Aubrey, Diocese of Worcester; Robert Rooney, Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas; John Ippolito, Archdiocese of New York; Stephen Baruffi, Archdiocese of Boston; Giris Azize, Archdiocese of Boston; and Paul Landi, Diocese of Beaumont in Texas.
