Admission to Candidacy, Rite of Acceptance

On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, the community of Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary celebrated ten of our Third Year Theologians who were accepted as worthy candidates for Holy Orders.  The Most Rev. Michael C. Barber, S.J., Bishop of the Diocese of Oakland, California, was welcomed to the Seminary as celebrant of the Mass. In preparation for their ordination to the transitional diaconate and ultimately to the priesthood, eligible members of the Class of 2019 have petitioned their respective bishops and have been called by them to participate in this rite.  The rites of Holy Orders will be conferred in each candidate’s home diocese at a time prescribed by their bishops or religious superiors, God willing.

Following the Mass and Rite of Acceptance, we gathered to share a wonderful meal prepared by our own chefs.  As can be imagined, these men were excited to welcome friends and family to the campus to help support their decision to listen and follow God’s call to be servants for Him in the Church.  Please continue to pray for them, and for all our seminarians answering God’s call.

We offer heartfelt congratulations and prayerful support to these members of the Class of 2019:
