Eric Garcia was raised in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. He earned B.S. and B.A. degrees in Organizational Studies from the University of Puerto Rico and a master’s degree in Non-Profit Management from Sacred Heart University (San Juan, P.R.). He was an executive staff member of the Puerto Rico Commission for Volunteerism & Community Service of the Office of the Governor and First lady. He previously worked as a consultant/advisor for several non-profit organizations in Puerto Rico.
During the Jubilee of Youth in Rome in 2000, Eric said that a homily by Pope John Paul II impacted him greatly. “His words have been with me since that day,” Eric said. “Pope John Paul said, ‘you are sent out to proclaim to others the words of life you have received. They will act and take root in you the more you share them with others … do not be afraid to accept your responsibilities: the church needs you. She needs your commitment and generosity.’”
